Every Québec resident who is financially eligible and whose requested legal service is covered by the Law on Legal Aid and other services are eligible for Legal Aid.
The Outaouais legal community center includes 8 offices spread across Gatineau, Pontiac and Labelle districts in order to serve its entire clientele and offer quality, adapted legal services.
Contact the office closest to your residence to present a Legal Aid request and receive services from a competent and committed professional to help you.
Using the required documents, a Legal Aid request will be completed and your financial eligibility will be studied by one of our attorneys. Depending on your income, you might be eligible for free Legal Aid or by means of a certain amount of money (contributory aspect). Our attorney will also determine if the service you are requesting is covered by Legal Aid, in conformity with the Law on Legal Aid and its rules.
Note that the evaluation of your eligibility for Legal Aid is usually done in person and cannot be done through phone or E-mails.
Scale of financial eligibility to Legal Aid
To determine your financial eligibility, we take into consideration your family’s annual income, your liquidity as well as your belongings.
